The Role
The Social Policy Specialist (Development), based in the UNICEF Field Office in Quetta, supports an evidence-based understanding of the provincial development context and provides technical support across the social policy programme, while leading gender and disability mainstreaming. This is a Temporary Appointment for 364 days reporting to the Chief Field Office.
• Analyse the development context and emerging development issues in the province to position UNICEF in the advancement of children's rights • Improve use of public financial resources for children • Strengthen social protection coverage and impact for children • Improve data on child poverty and vulnerability for increased use for policy and programme action • Strengthen advocacy and partnerships for child-sensitive social policy • Support UNICEF programme management • Lead the gender equality agenda • Support the evaluation and research function at PCO

Education, Experience and Skills Requirements
A minimum of five years of relevant professional work experience in social policy, social protection, child poverty, public finance, governance, policy analysis, programme planning or another related area; solid understanding of the development context in Pakistan, including the country's decentralized governance structure Preferred: Developing country and/ or emergency response experience; experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts
