The Role

The Regional Finance Manager leads financial management, reporting, budgeting, compliance and internal controls for The City School schools and offices in the Southern Region, reporting to the Financial Controller.


• Lead and oversee finance operations across schools and offices within the assigned region • Ensure accurate recording, classification, and reporting of all financial transactions • Monitor regional income, expenditure, cash flows, receivables, payables, and financial commitments • Review financial performance and provide recommendations to improve cost efficiency and resource utilization • Ensure compliance with approved financial policies, procedures, and delegated authority limits • Coordinate the preparation of annual budgets for schools and regional operations • Review budget submissions and ensure alignment with organizational priorities and approved plans • Monitor actual performance against budgets and investigate significant variances • Prepare periodic forecasts and recommend corrective actions where required • Support school leadership in financial planning, cost control, and budget management • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for the region • Ensure timely submission of accurate financial information to Head Office and senior management • Analyze financial trends, variances, operational costs, and key performance indicators • Provide meaningful financial insights to support business and operational decision-making • Ensure completeness, accuracy, and integrity of financial data and reports • Establish, monitor, and strengthen financial controls across regional schools and offices • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, statutory requirements, tax regulations, and audit standards • Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely provision of required information and documentation • Track audit observations and ensure implementation of agreed corrective actions • Identify financial risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures • Monitor fee collections, receivables, outstanding balances, and collection performance • Coordinate with school administration and relevant departments to improve collection efficiency • Review cash management practices and ensure appropriate controls over cash handling and deposits • Monitor bank reconciliations, cash balances, and regional liquidity requirements • Escalate significant collection, cash flow, or financial control issues to management • Review and monitor supplier payments, purchase transactions, and regional expenditure • Ensure that procurement and payment processes comply with approved policies and authorization procedures • Validate supporting documentation for expenses, invoices, purchase orders, and payments • Monitor supplier balances and support timely resolution of payment-related issues • Identify opportunities for cost savings and improved procurement efficiency • Lead, supervise, and develop finance teams across the assigned region • Allocate responsibilities, monitor performance, and ensure timely completion of finance activities • Provide guidance and support to school finance officers, administrators, and operational teams • Build effective working relationships with school principals, regional leadership, Head Office, auditors, banks, suppliers, and other stakeholders • Conduct training and knowledge-sharing sessions to improve financial awareness and compliance • Ensure effective use of financial systems and accurate maintenance of financial records • Support system enhancements, process automation, and improvements in financial reporting • Review existing finance processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and control • Ensure proper documentation of financial procedures, reconciliations, approvals, and reporting requirements • Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, continuous improvement, and service excellence

8-10 years of relevant experience in finance and accounting, including at least 3-5 years in a managerial role

• CA, ACMA, CIMA or equivalent professional qualification preferred
